1881 Census Return for Blaenavon
« on: Wednesday 19 August 09 15:54 BST (UK) »
Curiously my CD for returns for Blaenavon show no entries. Births in Blaenavon of people living elsewhere are to be seen but the return for Blaenavon itself is not. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Toby.

Hi Toby

Just looked on A***** and (for some of the entries at least) the place of residence has been transcribed as Llanover, Monmouthshire.  This is the civil parish for Blaenavon, so someone has got themselves in a tangle  :D :D

The transcription is further mired by many entries having only the single word Llanover as the address. The only solution will be to go back to the original document which I can see on the screen at Kew. Thanks for putting me straight Linda.
