Derby Girl, I have an old family scrapbook with a photo of Grove House. Really makes history come alive. Another book for me to track down!

And Bridgart, thanks so much for the vital stats on all those Bridgetts. I had already tracked down much, but not all, of the information. Some is even validated by the information in the scrapbook mentioned above.

I'm grateful for your help.

I gather Grove House was somewhere on Duffield Road.  The advertisement for its sale makes it sound really luxurious.

Derby Girl.

I have the advertisement of Grove House and its furniture and furnishings.  If you wish me to copy and past it in here I am quite willing to do so?  Yes, Grove House was on Duffied Road.

I would appreciate seeing the ad. The information in my scrapbook (as written by Joseph's grandson, my great-grandfather, 70 years after the fact) is that Thomas's eldest son Joseph Bridgett bought the house from Thomas's estate in 1834 and then sold it out of the family to Miss Strutt in 1837 when he moved his family to Colney Hatch. I haven't verified that through any external sources.

In the following article may be information you may be of interest to you:-

Thomas Trueman was one of the earlier partners.  Robert Lewis was the last remaining partner who did the wages and accountancy and when he died the business went bankrupt.
