WATTS Families
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 19:27 BST (UK) »
 I wonder if anyone could help, I am looking for a Thomas Watts who married Ruth Simes 19 August 1810 at Holy Trinity, Paulton, I am seeking his parents.  I believe he could have been married twice, once to Hepzibah Hill Aishman 11 August 1800 at Holy Trinity, Paulton & then to Ruth Simes.

I am also trying to 'marry up' three groups of Watts,

1. Thomas Watts who married Ruth Simes 19 August 1810 Holy Trinity Church, Paulton
2. Edward Watts who married Ann (Spencer?), looking for Edwards family.  Edward born c1830 Warminster, 1871 Census living in Silver Street, Warminster.
3. Isaac Watts born 1792, not sure where as on 1841 Census born outside of county.  I believe Isaac married Elizabeth Small 8 Dec 1817 St Denys Warminster.  Looking for Isaac's family.

There must be a connection as they all seem to be born in the same vicinity.  Would appreciate any assistance

Hi Trish, great name :)

There are lots of Watts BMD on Freereg, example;

Isaac WATTS, baptised 04 August 1792, Holy Trinity, Paulton
Parents, John and Sarah

Amazing :) a 73 yr old Isaac Watts marrying a 24 yr old in Beckington in 1853 ;D

Thomas Watts marriage to Ruth is there too, he is a widower.
Probable first marriage is to Hepzabath/Hephzibah in 1800, who died 1808 ( record shows wife of Thomas)

EDWARD WATTS;
Excuse me if I am a bit confused here but Edward Watts, born c 1830 is from Warminster, Wiltshire. The only connection I can find is his wife Anne born Frome, Somerset.
All children are born Warminster, Wiltshire. The first Edward c 1855

The likely marriage for him to a Ann is;
Edward WATTS
September 1853
Warminster 5a 249
On same page Ann WILLIAMSON

I cannot find any matching marriage to Ann Spencer as per submitted record on Familysearch.

The ISAAC WATTS you refer to;
Is he the one on 1841 Census, Bitton, Gloust, with wife Elizabeth and daughters Fanny 25 and Jane 20? All not born in county.

Elizabeth appears to have died by 1851 Census and girls have married. There is now I presume son Issac, born c 1843. Isaac snr is born Paulton, Somerset and  down as unmarried.
HO107/2032/372/38

1861 he is a lodger with son Isaac in the Parson household, born Potton (sic) Somerset c 1792 and a widow.
RG9/2056/70/41

None of this helps to prove is is a brother of Thomas yet though ;)

Hi

I am trying to locate the parents of my great grand mother Mary Ann Watts spinster of 42 Judd Street who married age 20 according to the marriage cert., John Goodey on 11 Jan 1880 at The Parish Church of St. Pancras, Middlesex, England.

She was unable to sign har name on the certificate and made her mark. She gave her father as Frederick Watts deceased occupation Tailor. One of the witnesses was Elizabeth Watts.

In searching the Census records for a Mary Ann Watts with a father Frederick the only record I could find was the 1871 Census.

According to the 1871 living at 2 Henry Place (Parish of St. Silas Islington London)
Frederick Watts  60 born abt. 1811 in Warminster Wiltshire a Tailor
Mary Watts 60 born abt. 1811 in Islington
Mary Watts daughter 15 born abt. 1855
Thomas Watts son 7   born abt 1864
Betsey Watts daughter 12 born abt. 1859
Minnie Watts daughter 10 born abt. 1861
All children born in  Lambeth, Surrey. The parents appear to be too old to be the parents. Possibly they were the grand parents?

This 1871 census may not be correct for my Mary Ann Watts as the year of birth doesn't tally with the age at marriage, but it was the only near record I could find with a father Frederick who was a tailor.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Best wishes

Richard  :)
