Thanks for the link Sancti, the photographs remind me of those taken by Bert Hardy who travelled the country taking pictures for the old Picture Post, the grittiness of the area's that Hardy snapped came through then as they do in these well composed shots.

Excellent Sancti-thanks for sharing.
I had family in Glasgow in late 1880's - they mostly all left for
Canada in 1911.  I wonder what the streets looked like then.
I wonder whether you would have any photos of Buchanan Street.
I was looking for a florists run by Mary Fox.
Best wishes,
Ian

Hi Ian, I looked for a photo for you from the Virtual Mitchell, but no luck. They seem to have every other shop on Buchanan St., except Mary Fox.

http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/virtualmitchell/index.php?a=street&i=B

However , I can tell you it was there at least from 1960 to 1973 (from memory).

It was situated on the right hand side going North, in between Dundas Lane and the entrance to the old Underground entrance. I think roughly somewhere between 160 and 176. There is half a picture of the old underground entrance on the above site.
