help needed please
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 22:33 BST (UK) »
I have found one of my ancesters in the 1911 census as being born in Drogheda, Louth, Ireland, as my family and I are in England i'm only familiar with the english records. What is the best website to use to follow her back? Her name is Annastasia (Annie) Condon born 1889 approx, her father is Francis Condon and he is confirmed deceased on her marriage certificate in England 1905 but I assume he died in Ireland.

There is an index to Irish Civil Records on a familysearch website at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

Full Civil registration started here in 1864. If you find a good match you can order a cert from the GRO - www.groireland.ie  The details they require are record type (e.g. birth), name, registration district, year/quarter, volume no. and page, the other details included on the index are LDS/familysearch references which they dont require.

The 1901 census for Co. Louth is due online (free), hopefully later this year, on the National Archives website at : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie
