1841/1851 census - Merthyr Tydfil
« on: Wednesday 02 March 05 20:17 GMT (UK) »
would anyone be able to locate a family on the 1841 and 1851 if at all possible.

I have been for some time been trying to locate them in the Tredegar area - however, I have recently found persons on the IGI who seem to fit the info. I have.
The children of the family were christened at a Wesleyan Methodist Church in Merthyr Tydfil. (thought this may be of some help with the location)

                                                1841               1851
GRIFFITH(S), Richard
                     Catherine  (wife)
                     Thomas                 9/10               19/20
                     Robert                   7                     17
                     William                   6                     16
                     Margaret                4                     14
                     Jane                       -                      5
My apologies if this is to difficult a request.
Thank You
Caroline :)

Have you found them on the 1861 Census?

I've just done a quick check on 1841 & 1851 and at first glance - this family combination does not appear to be there?

Are the parents names definite? Any idea of age or occupation? Do you know if all these children survived past infancy?  :)

I am afraid the only definite connections I have are between
Thomas
Margaret
Jane
who appear in the same household (that of Thomas) in Tredegar on the 1861. I have been unable to find Thomas in that area in 1851.
The ages of the three of them coincide with those I found on the IGI.
It is possible Robert and William may not have survived past infancy, but I do not know.

I was just hoping I could make some connection here as I can't seem to find anything of Thomas prior to the 1861 census and his son's birth later the same year, and he died later in the 1860s.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Caroline :)
