Hi Guys

The William Thorne b Cardiff was the son of the William Charles Thorne b Wellington, I am trying to locate the one born in Wellington circa 1865.

There was a witness to the marriage an Alice Thorne. I have found an entry in Free BMD for an Alice Thorne born 1864 in Wellington which I might take the chance on. Any chance first of looking for her in the 1871?

Cheers

Andy

The only other Alice Thorne in 1871C was born 1872 living in what appears to be a paupers house in Bath.

Could this John Thorne (aged 7) be Alice's dad and Henry Thorne (aged 2) be William's dad.
This looks like the same Henry in my LONG SHOT reply above.

Hi cello

Henry's occupation at the time of the marriage in 1887 was a Labourer it looks like, same occupation as William Charles. The only other thing worth noting is that William Charles signed his name a W Charles Thorne so maybe he went by the name Charles?

If this is the case, maybe Henry went by another name also!!! How do these people every expect us to find them! lol

Thanks for all the help and maybe one day I will have something concrete. This seems to be the worst line for me to trace, I didnt think it would be that hard not when you have managed tracing Smith's, Thomas,s and Green's!

Cheers

Hi all

Thanks for all the replies, I think that maybe this one is worth looking into more than any other. The DOB is right, the father is right, Milverton doesnt seem far from Wellington and the occupations are right.

Maybe the child Willie died and Charles took his name?

Cannot dismiss the Charles Thorne found  by rosie either right age/occupation/birth place.

Will need to look deeper I feel. Maybe order certs for the children of William Charles Thorne to see if the name changes at any point.
