 :)

Hello Wozzle

Thank you so much, what interesting info and cause for thought!   ;)

So, wonder whatever happened to Mr Pugh, father of Thomas, Martha and George?   ???

Ah, and thank you for the birthtown in Shropshire of Martha.

Ratlinghope, Shropshire, I'll have to google that one, not heard of it   ::)

Wonder if Martha was widowed, or divorced?

Cheers

Hello Wozzle

I'm always one post behind   ;)

Thank you for the marriage details of Francis and Martha.

If this was Francis' first marriage, he married late in life, so wonder if he was perhaps married before, and had other children?   ???

cheers

Hello Wozzle

Must have been mental telepathy wondering if Francis had married before?!   ;)

Cheers

here is martha and possibly husband in 1841 i say possibly because it does not actually state the relationship though it seems pretty obvious this is the case
1841
HO107/920/20/5/6
thomas pugh age 27. occ farmer.
martha pugh age 25
john pugh age 2
thomas pugh age 2mnths.
living at; ollies,ratlinghope,shropshire.
all born in shropshire

ollies in 1841  and hollies in 1851 i believe are one and the same farm so possibly in 1851 it was actually marthas farm not francis northwoods.

RATLINGHOPE,  Shropshire,  is an isolated hamlet of only 100 people.

It's 4 miles NW of Church Streton and 12 miles S of Shrewsbury.

It lies between Stiperstons and Longmynd.

her is probably thomas pugh death
nae; thomas pugh
y.o.r. 1846
qtr; jan/feb/mar.
dist; clun
vol; 18
page; 43.

so it is possible he died whilst martha was pregnant with george pugh aged 5 on the 1851 census.

Hello Wozzle

How very interesting and it certainly does look like the Hollies was Martha's farm, either by birth, or from Mr Pugh?   ???

Makes one wonder then where Francis Northwood appeared from, to marry the farmer's widow  (possibly?)?

Cheers
