Coyle and Grogan Termonmaguirk
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 17:59 BST (UK) »
Just starting to delve into this side of my family tree and have managed to locate marriage and some baptisms for this lot on Irish family history site but can't find any details online about the address given on the children's baptism records- stated as Urbelle in Termonmaguirk.. any one any ideas?
Also, and I guess this is the million dollar question, in the absence of parish records, what else can I use to get further back than 1820s?
Any help gratefully received.. it's much harder than tracking down English lot.

thanks for that.. the transcription definately says Termonmaguirk and that is where the couple were married but I suppose they could have gone back there for the baptism even if they lived elsewhere as the families appeared to still be there?
have to say I've been doing this for 22 years but only turning my attention to the Irish lines of late, and I'd hate to be an absolute beginner is all I can say ;-)

Dear cold ethyl,
I have just come across your post  from 2009 and I am very interested.
My name is Gene Grogan from a townland in Termonmaguirk called Altanagh. You mentioned Urbelle in Termonmaguirk, I actually grew up 500 yards from, what was spelt Urbal in our area. It was actually a small area in the north- west end of Innishatieve townland which bordered my own townland, It is actually no longer in official use, it is all called Innishatieve.
What makes it more interesting for me is the names you are enquiring about, both Coyle and Grogan. I am not very good with all this technology but if you can contact me by email I should be able to reply to you. Looking forward to your reply.
Thank you very much
Gene Grogan

Hi Gene Grogan,
Not sure if you will be notified of this message.
However the names Coyle and Grogan and  Termonmaguirk - Urbelle - caught my interest.
I have certificates for my gx2 grandparents and the places Urbelle - Termonmaguirk  are recorded on theses certificates.
Just recently I have been tracing these ancestors back to Ireland and strangely the names Coyle and Grogan have come up in my research.
Hopefully we can get in touch.
Sarra

Hello sarra,
Can you publish the names of your ancestors, any sponsors they had and any other information about them or anything to do with Termonmaguirk whatsoever. Am I right in saying you are in Australia? I know there was Grogans from my home townland of Altanagh went to New Zealand, but I have never heard of any of them going to Australia.
Thank you very much,
Gene Grogan

Hi Gene Grogan,
Apologies for this late reply I did not see it until now.
It may take me sometime  to dig them up again.
I'll see what I can find.
