1900-1910 Ballycanew
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 19:47 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any information on a Richard Stern(e) in Ballycanew 1900-1910. I have found mention on him being a shoe repairer. But he is not in the 1911 census. Does anyone have any idea of where I can look for him online?

Thanks

Hello Richard,

do you expect him to be there in 1911?
Could he have died or emigrated?

There is a John Sterne who looks to be a bootmaker but I'm sure you've seen him.

Yes, I know and you said that in your post.
That's why I asked the other questions. :)

I know very little on him. I have traced my family back to Ballycanew. Richard is a popular family name.

I can see the one you perhaps mean in births and marriages (Family Search). I thought he may be in Carlow but I see you have already been through that idea too  ;)

my guess is that he will show up on the 1911 census (assuming he was still alive) in one of the counties next to Wexford, which are not online yet

is it possible that he have moved to, or was on a trip to, somewhere in Carlow or Wicklow?

Might not be your Richard, but RecordsSearch have a Death for Richard Sterne in Gorey (Ballycanew is only 6 miles away, so it is the right district)
Ballycanew is now a small village
