Hello,

Just to update the group that I am currently transcribing the enlistment forms of the Railway Pioneer Regiment from 1899-1902 held at TNA. I would hope to have this completed by the end of October.

At the moment I have transcribed Surnames A - C, and photographed A-E.

If you would like any information on the above just contact me and I will be more than happy to email a copy of the enlistment form.

Hello Malcolm - I am interested in Captain Ferdinand Joseph Pollard who was in the 1st Batt, I would be most grateful for anything you have for him. Keen to know where he enlisted, believe he might have been living in Nairobi and also keen to trace his two sons who I am unable to trace births for in England. Henry Charles Michell Pollard (involved in the sinking of the Bismark) and Arthur Michell Pollard, I think possibly born in Africa. Many thanks for any light shed - Buttercup

Hi Malcolm,

Could you please look up two names for me. Both of my Great Grandfathers served with the British Army in the Boer War before eventually emigrating to Canada and joining the CEF.

I know almost nothing about William James Horsley. I found the exact name on the rolls of the 1st Railway Pioneers, but have no independent corroboration that it is him. He survived and was killed at Courcelette in 1916.

Thomas Phillips was at Ladysmith in 1900. After the war he became a guard at Buckingham Palace.

I would appreciate any information you can find.

Hi Malcolm,
I see that you haven't been on RootsChat for over a year so am doing a reply and sending a personal message.  I hope that this is not due to some personal tragedy but some other reason.  If you are still doing the enrollment forms for the Railway Pioneer Regiment, I would like information on Thomas R Dodd, Major, 2nd Battalion, Railway Pioneer Regiment. Died of dysentery 4th February 1901 at Elandsfontein.  Thank you.

I wonder if you can help me with info on William Henry Moore who I believe served in the 3rd Battalion Railway Pioneer Regiment during the Boer War. At present this is only a theory so anything that might help confirm the theory would be great,
