In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

From the dictionary of English surnames:

Ridealgh, and variations, Ridehalgh, Redihalgh, Reddihough, Reddyhoff, Readyhough

from Higher Ridihalgh (Lancs)

Wonder how the Lancashire place name is pronounced?

Added:- Ridihough as in cough! here's a useful link http://riddiough.com/id1.html

Herefordshire: Mytton.
Lincs: Ingham
Northants: Knight (Welford); Linnell;  Gaudern.
Staffs (Brierley Hill, Kingswinford): Wood; Eades.
Somerset: Bailey; Lewis

Thanks again.  The link given earlier by keziahemm explains the origin of the name as meaning something like "reedy hollow"

Hi Mal

Could be right! as meaning of! but as people in Lancashire and Yorkshire pronounce in slang  'Ridehalgh'.
Sounds like.

Rid-i(e)-d(Hig)ig -Rid-i-haigh (IG)  thus maybe RIDIHIG or Rididig or Ridihall
