Looking for Pagrams
« on: Wednesday 26 August 09 14:40 BST (UK) »
HI,
I'm trying to trace the family of my grandfather, Walter Martin Pagram, birth registered in Brecon Hay in 1893. I believe the family came from Cambridgeshire.
I'm not sure of his father's name, but I think his mother's name was Emma.
Sorry, that's all I know.
Any ideas?

Thanks for all that, Tati.
I have found a marriage reg for Wm. Pagram & Eliz. Constable : 1857 in Chesterton.
Re Emma - Looked for her in 1881 census to find her mother's name, but unfortunately she's a visitor in Coaley, Gloucs. so need to go back to 1871. Do you have any access to Norfolk censuses. If so, please could you have quick look?
Thanks a lot,
Jen

1871
RG10/1305 40 2
Cranford, Middlesex
5 Windsor Place

Henry Gaskon, head, 39, Police Constable, b. Norfolk Eley? (maybe Cley)
Hannah, wife, 40, b. Norfolk Holt
Emma, dau, 15, General Servant, b. do.
Hannah, dau, 8, scholar, b. Mddx Cranford
Alice, dau, 6, scholar, b. do.
L E, dau, 4, b. do.
W H, son, 2, b. do.
Florance?, dau, 1 mo, b. do.

(There's a possible candidate on the 1851 census for Henry in Cley next the Sea, Norfolk. Surname looks like Gorskin HO107/ 1809 695 26. Also a Henry Gorskin to possibly Hannah Tuck marriage, Mar 1852 Erpingham)

O.K. Many thanks. That marriage looks promising.
There's a Cley next the Sea in Norfolk. And I just checked and it's in the Erpingham Reg. district. So presumably Henry and Hannah's' roots are in that area.

The IGI has a birth reg. for Hannah Tuck in Holt in Jan 1830. It's the only one that fits. Parents are Richard and Lucy (Fields). Other children named Eliz. and John.
