« on: Wednesday 26 August 09 18:20 BST (UK) »
HI
I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows about this line pre 1841 census - William Gregor married Elizabeth Rickard in 1822 but who were her parents - I think Philip married to mary Tink but not sure and then Id like to go back from there - any one have any ideas?

Hi

You have not included any details of Elizabeth's birthyear or birthplace for tracing purposes

Is she the 1851 entry b 1801 Gwennapp??  If not - when and where was she born?  To try and trace her parentage we need that info

Elizabeth Rickard born 11.09.1794 – 19.05.1866 - died Swansea - and born I think in 1794 but could have been 17.02.1796 which I have from somewhere else - however her death certificate says she was 72
married 24.04.1822in St Austell. They were living in Swansea by 1841 marriage Witnessed Phillip Rickard, George Beethurst? this is down as groom's signature and a  mark - married by banns.
does this help

The 1861 census shows her birthplace as St Austell 1795
William was b St Agnes 1793

Have you already discounted this IGI entry? www.familysearch.org

HI
I agree the date of birth and the place - but wondered about John rather thatn Philip - you are probably right in which case i need to find their marriage so Tink is no doubt wrong - will explore and come back - many thanks

Elizabeth Rickard baptised 9.11.1794 in St Breward number 807024 was the daughter of Giles and Susanna - completely different - this comes from the OPC records which I believe are more correct than IGI
so this throws more into the melting pot

Am I missing something?

Apart from the name - what is the connection between a christening in St Austell (her named birthplace) on 27.10.1794 and a christening in St Breward on 9.11.1794

St Austell & St Breward are approx 20 miles apart

You seem to be assuming that the witness Philip Rickard was her father.  He could have been her brother or a cousin

There is no record in the Cornish parish records for st austell of an elizabeth rickard in 1794 on OPC - the only one in that year is in St Breward.

this is what is throwing me

The St Austell christening is an extracted record - not a submitted entry

Because it's not on OPC does not mean it's non-existent

Are all St Austell records on the OPC website or are they still being added to?

Looking at the coverage for St Austell baptisms - they only start in 1813 and cover to 1839
