1800s Farming Studley Query
« on: Thursday 27 August 09 14:50 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

Pretty new to this so please bear with me....

I am traced a great great great (etc) Grandfather through the 1800s censuses by the name of Benjamin Elvins (born in Warwickshire, Studley in 1815).  In one of the early censuses he was described as a farmer with 37 acres in Studley.  I searched through the archives and managed to find in 1863 Benjamin Elvins owning 14 acres of farming land on the 2700 acres of Studley Castle site as Weatheroak Farm.

I was hoping someone might be able to throw some light on where to get further information about the farm deeds etc?  Or any general historical info about the farms there at the time?

Thank you  :)
