CLOSED - Gypsum Pit accident - Kingston on Soar
« on: Friday 28 August 09 15:02 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters,

I've just today received the death certificate of an Uncle who died 26th April 1939 in an accident at the Kingston Gypsum Ltd pit @ Kingston-on-Soar.

In column 7 for signature, description and residence of informant, it reads:

Certificate received from Herbert Bradwell, Coroner for the Nottingham District of the County of Nottingham. Inquest held 27th April 1939.

What's the best way to go about finding out more about the accident?

Regards, B

Hi,

I would you check in local newspapers for articles about the accident.
Nottingham Library's local history dept is very helpful, and I would say a good place to start.

As you have a date, you have a good place to start!

Best wishes,
