Cause of Death
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 07:53 BST (UK) »
Hi :),

Not sure if this is going in the right place, but I'll try anyway.

I've just recieved a death cert (1928) for Mary Ellen, aged 40, with the cause of death 1.Myocarditis and 2.Parturition.

Am I right to assume she died in child birth.  She already has 7/8 children at this point, or can anyone explain what these conditions could have lead to?

many thanks,

Pip :)

Hi Pip

Myocarditis has various causes for example a virus, but can also be caused by pregnancy.

You are correct in assuming she died in child birth, maybe her heart was weak and had gone into failure and as they didn't have the medical facilities then as they do now she was unfortunate sadly.
