Your Thomas was baptised 9 Jul 1699, s/o William and Joane.
(Their children are:
1692 William
1694 Christian
1696 Joane
1699 Thomas
1701 Francis
1704 John
1706 Elizabeth
1709 Mary

There is a John baptised 14 Mar 1736, s/o Francis & Elizabeth Deacon.  This may be his marriage, but there are no fathers' details to check.

4 Feb 1762
John Deacon, cordwainer
Mary Giles, sp, botp
witnesses John Wilkinson, William Deacon
(witness could be his brother)

I'll see if I can find any children for them.

Please could you look in the Isley parish registers for a marriage

Thomas Deacon to Elizabeth ?   c. 1726

Thanks

Wilma

The only marriage for a Thomas Deacon is in 1855 to Elizabeth Herman (he's a son of Isaac, but not sure if it's the same Isaac yet).

ETA:  no, not the same Isaac!  This one was born 1803 s/o James & Sarah, married Ann and had 9 children, was widowed - swiftly married Harriet and had 11 more children.  Died 1888 aged 85, not bad eh!  :o

No children showing up for John Deacon & Mary Giles.

The John you have born in 1736 sounds like a better candidate than the one I found in 1727.   This would then  make it like this

Daniel 1785 son of John & Hester Turk who were married 1761.   He was 12th child
John 1736 son of Francis & Elizabeth
Francis 1701 son of William & Joane

I don't suppose I will be able to get proof of either scenario.  Might have to stop at Daniel's parents.

Thanks for your help

Can't be the same John, though - the marriage dates don't fit. Hester is married in 1761 and Mary in 1762.  If it had been the other way round, we could have hypothesised that Mary died and Hester was a second wife.

Unless the John that married Mary Giles is a different one altogether of course.

Sounds as if John born Chieveley 1727 must be one who married Hester Turk in Chieveley 1761 and

John born East Ilsley 1836 the one who married Mary Giles in 1862 in East Ilsley.

That would make sense - I think!

Far too many of them and I know I can't assume anything.

John Deacon's wife Hester was buried in 1817 age 78, which gives her a rough birth year of 1739.  I have this family on my tree but I haven't found a burial for John.
