But the KOYLI have no record of him so ...... for me he is trying to get too much from so little information

I think local newspaper archives will be your best source on this one for an obituary.You also may find him on an enlistment list in the 1914/15 papers especially before conscription.
If you cant find an obituary try the in memoriam page 1919-1930 there are often family inserts in them that give info.
