margin notes in parish registers
« on: Monday 31 August 09 05:59 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

I've been researching some ancestors in Aberdeen via Scotland's People and I've found a few entries with margin notes e.g. for John Duthie b. 1752 in Aberdeen there's the following in the margin:

Duthie
see page 372
No. 6

From what I've read on RootsChat I understand that these may be corrections (i.e. correction no. 6 can be found on p 372 of the register.  Is this right?  Can anyone tell me how to see the correction?

I've looked at the Scotland's People FAQs and read some info on RCEs but it only seems relevant to statutory registers and not parish registers.

I could go through the register page by page, but as the original record is on p 269, the Scot in me is saying there must be a better way!

Thanks for any advice

All the best

Eddie
