Doreen Wilson
« on: Monday 31 August 09 16:50 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find either Doreen Wilson or her family.  Doreen was born c1922
and was a nurse at Victoria Hospital, Wynberg.  My mother-in-law has recently passed
away and i have found 3 letters Doreen wrote to her.  They mention meeting my
mother in laws brother Harry during World War 2.  Doreens letters were very
articulate and through words, painted a brilliant picture of life in South Africa during
the early 1940's.

Hello Babyboo

Are you saying that Doreen Wilson was English and emigrated to South Africa pre WW11, was Wilson her married name?

Bryant

Hi Bryant,
Doreen was from South Africa, and met Harry my husbands uncle when his ship
landed in South Africa on its way to Singapore, where sadly he was killed.  Harry
never married but gave Doreen details of one of his sisters, i.e. my mum-in-law.
Doreen states in one of her letters that she was due to visit England in 1944 or 45
and hopes to meet with mum-in-law, I am not sure if this happened.
