Marriage.......
Kathleen V Deacon married Douglas M Dawson in the Mar qtr of 1941 Colchester R.D, Essex, England.........so either they got divorced or he died, did he die in New Zealand or England?

Can't see a Divorce file reference for the DAWSON's on the Archives New Zealand website.   [That doesn't mean that there wasn't a divorce -  just that the reference doesn't appear on the website.]

Again  ... try the NZ BDM online for a death of Douglas M DAWSON.

Children of Sydney COX ... sorry can't help you with those either.

Thankyou Lu

What I have found out is......

13th Jan 1950
ship....MANTAROA.....shipping line SHAW SAVILL
Southampton to NZ
DOUGLAS M DAWSON  aged 31.............draughtsman
KATHLEEN V DAWSON aged 33
PAMELA J DAWSON......aged 8

SO.......something happened in the short space of time from arriving in New Zealand in 1950 to Kathleen V Dawson (nee Deacon) marrying Sydney Jack Cox in 1952

Its possible that all three Dawson's that travelled to NZ could still be alive so that endeth the research

Thanks
Bryant

This could be your man as the age fits......

It might be worth contacting the funeral directors to see if they will tell you who made the arrangements.

Thankyou Bren

That answered a question

Douglas (born Fulham 1918) lived so it was a divorce or something....

Reading your reply a shiver just went down my spine..........surely nothing but a coincidence
Sydney Jack Cox................died 2nd Sept 1990 aged 79
Douglas Montague Dawson died 2nd Sept 1990 aged 72

Hi Bryant

All sorts of scenarios come to mind!!!

The death notices might give some clues...
I don't have access to the Auckland papers, but one of the others might be able to help.

Hi Bryant

I see there is a Coroners Report at Wellington and a Probate at Auckland for Douglas DAWSON
http://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/

so one would assume some sort of accident or "un-natural" death.....

Update

The archives.govt.nz were very helpful in that they told me that.......

Douglas Montague Dawson died as a result of hitting his head when falling from stairs whilst carrying two cups of coffee.....no mention of Sydney Jack Cox within the coroners inquest file.
So......
1/ I could get my friend to purchase the death certs of the two individuals who died on that day in 1990
2/ I would like to find the divorce of Douglas Montague Dawson and his wife Kathleen Victoria Dawson (nee Deacon) that took place 1950-1952 as they arrived in NZ as a family in 1950 and Kathleen married Sydney Jack Cox in 1952
3/ What happened to Sydney's first wife Iris in the period 1946 to 1952?
4/ Who was that other cup of coffee for  ;D
