Yeh thought it would be better posting on here instead of emailing you back as info might be useful to other people as well, thanks for sending the link to this site.

I have a lot more branches of the Clee area grant family listed in my tree
sorry I could not be more help with Gilbert and the Australia link, although that must have been a ongoing thing in the family as When I was young I remember my dad saying some of his brothers went out to Australia, something to do with a family business out there.

Take Care
Michelle

GRO info for Gilbert

GRO Births Jun 1901
GRANT    Gilbert    Grimsby    7a    615

seems he was registered in the June Quarter

its still possible he could have been born Mar 22 1901 because you get a certain length of time to register a birth, which they may not have done till beginning of April

the only way to be 100% sure would be to get Birth Certificate

Take Care

Michelle

DNA would be  the only way  to prove it, if you were able to find a living relative who just might co-operate

I still feel it is such a big coincidence but maybe just that, we will never know.

I am a new researcher of my family tree and stumbled across this post.  I know it was a while ago, but any chance you had any luck with Gilbert Grant?

I am a decendant of Gilbert Grant (my Great Grandfather) and would love some more info on how he got to Australia.

Thanks,

Carmel
