OK a suggestion for you now lol.
Now you have a name and date of birth, why dont you have a look at the 1901 & 1911 cencus's and see how close the two families lived together?
I found my gt-grandad & his family this way:
My gt-grandad was - as far as anyone knew - called Henry Childs and Born in Walsingham Norfolk in 1875.
Well ........... 20 years on from starting I had traced every Henry Childs born in 1875 in the area, looked at their families & marriages & non were him, so I had just about given up on finding him.
Then by sheer chance I mentioned to someone in the chat room that he didnt exist before 1901 ...............
We found a Henry Hanwell Childs born illigitimate close by in 1867, in a different district, by following him & his mum 'forward' thru the cencus's (and a few different surnames thanks to his mum!) we finaly figured out this was "my" Henry.
Once I was happy with it being the right one, I had a look around the general area in the cencus's for the times he would have been born and Lo & behold, there on the next page to gt-gt-granny was a Henry Hanwell, the same age as gt-gt-granny, single & the right occupation to what Henry had said on his Marriage cert in 1910.
My theory is that Henry didnt KNOW when he was born, or that he was illigitimate and the info he gave was the info his mother had given him growing up, and obviously for her own reasons she didnt want him telling people he had no father.
Hope this helps,
Gaille
