Very interesting.  Thank you.  Yes, I believe this John Deakin [married to Emma Bolton] is my grandfather -- and the father of my aunt Doris.

On Ada's death entry in 1961 her birthdate is given as 4th June 1874.

An Ada Harrison born 4/6/1874, bp.21/6/1874 Birmingham, Bishop Ryder, dau. of Joseph (a mechanic) and Maria.   Her birth entry shows her mmn as Stringer.

'Maria' was actually Ann Maria Stringer and she married Joseph Harrison (machinist) on 8/4/1871 Birmingham, St Philip.

In 1891 the family are living in Birmingham - Joseph is now a Gas Fitter but son Joseph 19 and Ada 16 are both shown as Elementary Teachers - this would fit Ada 'Muir's occupation on 1901 census (then as Ada Muir she and Alan and his daughter sailed to Quebec leaving Liverpool on 22/8/1901).

However, as you refer to Ada's father as 'Joseph' I suspect you might already have this information although details not specified on this thread.

I've just - too late - checked Ancestry and see there is indeed a tree showing most of this information which I'm assuming is yours.

If the tree is indeed yours, since this thread appears to have been 'resurrected' by you yesterday (after an 8 year gap) it would have helped us if you'd told us what had been discovered in the last 8 years to save us searching for you again.   Like Mckha489, I wondered how you knew her father was a Joseph and I see they have now added a comment to one of their postings.   None of your postings from yesterday indicated that you had now actually identified who Ada Harrison was!

Sorry Annette.  My focus has been to try to find the mysterious Sarah Dukesell.  I didn't mean to cause unnecessary work.  You all have been very helpful.

Mckha489 said "Added -  I see you actually know she was Ada HARRISON because of her letter to the Mayor and the matching birth certificate.  Daughter of Joseph HARRISON Engine Fitter and Ann Maria STRINGER"   I thought I had a copy of that letter and was looking for it this afternoon, but can't find it.  Where did you find it?  I was thinking it might confirm or clarify some of these issues.
