WW1 Royal Navy Detention Codes
« on: Sunday 06 September 09 21:41 BST (UK) »
My grandfather Michael O'Brien, Stoker, Royal Navy was sentenced to  35 days detention December 1918. He was at Pembroke 11, Chatham.
The record reads -
Sentenced by warrant of 7/12/18 to 35 days detention list 18/7480

Does anyone have any ideas regarding this code?

I dont think its a code i think its the 7480th list of 1918.

Does it say why on his record he got 35 days?

Thank you mmm45 for your information. Unfortunately it gives no reason  for his detention   below 18/740 reads -

Would  records be kept regarding detention?

My grandfather had the same thing on his service record. Around the same time too.. all 1915 to 1919-ish, all at Pembroke I, Chatham Dockyard.

Four occasions in trouble:
7 days cells, Insolence & disobedience.
10 days cells, "run"  AWOL.
36 days cells, AWOL again but later down the page it says Run removed.
& 14 days for something else.

But mine all had reasons listed (except the last one). If it was just 45 days it probably wasn't for anything too bad. At a guess.   :-\

Modified: Sorry misread. My record says Pembroke I not II.
