Alan, I think you turned left instead of right somewhere! There are MANY John George Pearson's, so easy enough to do. The Rev. was born in Bawtry, Yorkshire, and was always a practicing minister.
The first part of Lottie's father's obit might help; it's from the Shields Daily News 23 April
1934:
Veteran Methodist Minister
Funeral of Rev. J. G. Pearson at Whitley
The funeral of the Rev. John George Pearson, who died at his home in Bournemouth Gardens, Monkseaton, on Thursday, at the age of 85, took place at Whitley New Cemetery on Saturday.
Mr Pearson joined the Wesleyan Methodist ministry at Doncaster in 1871, and spent 11 years as a missionary in Ceylon. During that time, however, he returned to England for his marriage to Miss
Sarah Alice Hampson, daughter of Mr John A. Hampson, of Doncaster, and a cousin of Bishop A. Webb, Dean of Salisbury.
Mr Pearson finally returned to England in 1882, and held charges in circuits in many parts of the country. Among the towns in the North-East in which he ministered were Middlesbrough, South Shields, Gateshead, Sunderland and Darlington.
His last church before coming to Whitley Bay was at Dudley, Worcestershire. On his retirement, in 1917, Mr Pearson came to Whitley Bay and acted as supernumery minister in the Wesleyan circuit.
For six years he as financial secretary of the Newcastle District of the the Wesleyan Methodist Church and was also secretary of the Synod.
He leaves one son and four daughters.
A service was held in the St. John's Methodist Church, Ilfracombe Gardens, Whitley Bay, conducted by the Rev. A. Antliff, who also officiated at the graveside.
Family mourners were: Mr Donald Pearson, son; Mr and Mrs J.M. Dunn, son-in-law and daughter; Mrs E. M. Leek, Miss A. K. Pearson, daughters; Mr. C Atkinson and Mr N. Atkinson, nephews (Doncaster). Miss Kathleen Dunn, granddaughter (Doncaster).
On the transcript for Lottie's death at Familysearch, it puts her mother's maiden name as Webb, which is wrong (but then Lottie's middle name was recorded wrong as well!). You can see she was related to a Webb, so that is probably where the error came from. Whoever supplied the info didn't know her too well?
