Chappuzeau in Sweden
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 08:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am researching my Chappuzeau ancestors. I have just discovered Elsa Margareta Chappuzeau born in Sweden in 1907.

4 jan 1907 - Ängelholm, Kristianstad

I know of no other Chappuzeaus in this area, and do not know how to research there. Can anybody point me in the right direction please.

This might be a member of a branch of the German family, or of the Estonian branch from Reval (descendants of Jacob)

Cheers,

If you want I can look a little further back in the books. There are probably more. I'll get back later on. There are no databases that far back.

That would be great!

Is there any way to find the husband of Marie (nee Janson)? He would be the link to the rest of the Chappuzeau family. And he must have had sons (or brothers?)? Because otherwise we would not have Elsa Chappuzeau born in 1907.

There are so many variations in the spelling of the name, too. U is often replaced by N in the transcriptions (Chappuzean vs Chappuzeau). Sometimes it only has one P, or an S instead of the Z.

Well, I had a wee quick look at Marie's birth in 1829. Her name is Maria Charlotta b. 16 Jan
It was hard to read but the parents were Andreas Svensson Chalenaux? and Anna Eriksdotter.

I'll get onto it.
