« on: Friday 11 September 09 08:16 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information about this line of my family if anyone else is researching this beautiful part of the Borders, please contact me. Adam Nichol married Elzabeth Graham about 1830 and I am descended from their children.

Hello David

We have some information on Adam Nichol and Elizabeth Graham, as their son Walter had a child Adam Nichol by Eliza Heatlie, sister of my great-great-grandmother Christina Scott Heatlie. He shows up aged 4 on the 1861 census:

The links below are for Adam Nichol and Elizabeth Graham.

http://www.maxwellancestry.com/census/51transcript.aspx?houseid=77704018

http://www.maxwellancestry.com/census/41transcript.aspx?houseid=77702011

Adam died on 4th July 1865 at Milsington Shankfoot, Roberton, and from his death certificate his parents were Walter Nichol, shepherd and his wife Jane (Jeanie) Elliot, who lived in Castleton parish, Roxburghshire.

Not sure if you have some of this information already, but hope it may be of some help.

Kind regards

Graham

David  I am nearly finised transcribing Ashkirk cemetery and there is a few Nicols and Nichols but no Adams however in the transcript of the Ashkirk School records there is a Adam Nichol born 2-8-1889 , a Thomas Nichol born 6-11-1886 and a George Nichol born 3-3-1888 ALL sons of Adam Nichol ,New Woll Ashkirk and a Thomas Nichol born 5-6-1889 son of James Nichol Burnfoot Ashkirk and his siter Betsy G Nichol also Burnfoot
There is also Catherine born 13-6-1885, Maggie Nichol born 21-9-1881 and Mary Nichol born 20-5-1883 all family of Thomas Nichol Todrigshiel Ashkirk.
May not help but it could fill in a few gaps.
Ashkirk Cemetery is on the Roberton road and presumably they all went to school there.
