Census Look-Up;Hedefin;

 :)

HI:

Could I please have a look up for "James Hedefin"(b) 1809 Bangor,Ire;
married in 1844 "Eliza Brennan"(b)1825 Ire;stationed "Isle of Man"with
British Army, did they have a 'base' there,,,???

James Hedefin enlisted British Army 1829 serving in many countries overseas,
after marriage he was posted to" Isle Of Man" no idea where or his "REG"
however  his first son was born there,"Edward Hedefin"(b) 1847 'Isle of Man'
that tells me there is a good chance the 'father' of 'James Hedefin' back in
Ire. would most likely be named "Edward",,,,,

Is it possible to find any info on 'James & Eliza Hedefin' stationed "Isle of Man'
about 1845, next son "James Hedefin" (b) 1848-9 Portsmouth,so most likely
the family moved to there,,,,,

Next sighting they are in 'Newcastle,Eng' in mid 1850's and James ended
up at "Westoe,Sth.Sheilds,Durham" retired from the 'army' and working
for the 'railway',,,,,

Appreciate any help to find the family on 'Isle of Man' I have info from England,,,
Thank you very much,,,,

Kind regards;
Janey; 8) ::)

can't help with census but see http://www.manxnotebook.com/history/military/regts.htm for some info re regiments stationed on Island - if baptised on Island then probably at Castletown unless they were Roman Catholic .

Igi has bapt 30 AUG 1846   Saint Marys, Castletown,  Edward s/o James + Elizth which matches the 2 Roman cath bapts I have for the 36th Regt of foot
any thing with a Manx Connection

 Thanks a bunch Frances for the info on "Edward Hedefin"
(C) 30 Aug,1846 St.Mary's Castletown,,, son of 'James & Eliza'
I can't say whether they were "R/C" or not as some of them
in Liverpool,Eng  later married in the "RC/Chapel",,,

I expect 'James' was in the '36th Foot/Reg if they were there at
that time,, I'll check it with one of the other family/researchers

Appreciate your efforts very much,,,,

Kind regards;
