Ah yes, I remember that name from my tree.
It does seem to be the correct James Edwin. No others in that area born at that time.
A marriage record I found with a German sounding spouse name (Ingeborg Hantke or Daniels?) says they registered in Bucklow which is only about 20miles from Hazel Grove. Is that your grandmother?

That's the one! Ingeborg Wande Hantke/Daniels! (I think Hantke was her maiden name. She married Mr Daniels in Germany but he did not survive the war).

There is a Mabel Marples from the same area that married a Harry Shelton a few months after James married Ingeborg in 1948. Maybe they divorced because he met your grandmother? Then both got remarried.

 :o What a scandal!!! No wonder the family weren't happy!!!
I've only seen a couple of photos of James Edwin, and I have always said he looked like Sid James from the Carry On films!!! What a monkey!! Poor Mabel!

Also, Mabel died in Manchester 1981. You have photos of him? I'd love to see that, see if there is a resemblance. I've got a picture of who we think is his brother William and dad James. 95% certain.

Gosh, it might be my imagination but William does seem to have a resemblence! My dad (James' son) has the photos so when I visit him this week I'll scan them for you to have a look at! We also have some random photos of people we don't know- maybe they'll tie in with something you have!
I'll see if I can remember my ancestry account too!
