Hi All,
I'm actually just writing up the Gunns of Achanaichan / Achaneccan so I'm pleased to get the information. May I suggest you firstly enter 'Robert Gunn of Achaneccan' on the computer and read lots in the Sage book 'Memorabilia Domestica' which will turn up? I am assuming we are all the same as the Sage book points out 'Achaneccan' is only a farm.
I am am painfully working through an 1868 Family tree of the various Chief lines of the Clan Gunn; the Achanaichan line is 'William in Achanaichan the 2nd son of Donald the Scholar'. Donald 'the Scholar' Gunn is second son of 'William beag / bheg' whose older brother was 'William mhor' Chief of the Clan Gunn. I should be be able to write up this line in a couple of days, especially given the new information.
However I have now got a blog for my sins. May I suggest you look at
http://clangunn1.blogspot.co.uk/ ? The current entry concerns Donald the Scholar's first son (yours is the second, as I have said) and then you can wander down the other other Chief lines as you go down the blog. Note the 1868 family tree I am using...
It would be sensible to read up about the contentious Clan Gunn Family Convention / Chief issues there as well, as it relates to you if you can prove things...
Cheers
Alastair (not on that line, sorry- a much more obscure one...)
