help!!!!!! was harold ernest taylor (my grandfather)  the hero my family says he was,sometime in the 1940s (think  ww2)he pulled 2 airman from a burning plane and recived a bravery medal(do to a family split no one can find medal or paper cutting )have tried various newspapers and military web sites but have found nothing (he lived in kings lynn norfolk ) can anyone help thanks jo

Hello Jo, yes your grandfather was commended for bravery following an aircraft crash. The London Gazette of 2nd May 1944 records Harold Ernest Taylor, Bulldozer driver, King's Lynn. Commended for brave conduct when aircraft crashed and caught fire.

No medal i'm afraid but probably would have received a paper commendation.
