Parish Church lookup - Great Saling
« on: Saturday 05 March 05 22:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,
I am looking for the birth of Ralph Tanner.
He was down as aged six in the 1871 Census.
I hope to confirm that his mother is Elizabeth Tanner and maybe there is mention of a father. Sometimes one can get lucky.
Thanks
Val

Thanks Neve,
I looked in BMD records too and have not found him yet.
Is it possible being illegitimate that he just was not registered ?
Thanks
 Val

I am looking for the baptism of William Claydon in Great Saling - census records have listed his birth as either 1791 or 1796.

Thanks in advance,

Michelle

Hi

There is an Essex baptism index you could request a look up from (Neve has not posted again on Rootschat since 2005)

Hi Mitch2,

The Gt Saling PRs covering the period you are looking at are online in the SEAX system, just go to the SEAX site, click on Essex Ancestors located on the right hand side, follow the simple instructions and off you go

Regards.
Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

Hi Valda,

You are absolutely right, the Gt Saling PRs are not online a fact which came as a great shock to me, I was so sure I had searched them sometime online, perhaps my mind is playing tricks.

Mitch2, very sorry for that false information  :-[  :-[.

I will be sending an email to the ERO to find out why they are not online I will also check if at any time they were online.  In the mean time I'll check through some of my notebooks to see when I have searched the Gt Saling PRs,  the dates will tell if I searched on or off line because I know the dates of my visits to the UK and the ERO.

I will in future not rely on memory in similar situations, usually if I see a request for something dated around the late 1700s or later still I make a point of going on the SEAX site to ascertain if the date is covered by online PRs, another lesson well learnt!

Regards.
