I think that both Ancestry & FreeBMD original pages look like 1229 - compare with the digit -1- in the line above ?

I have looked at them both too now, and agree that it is 1229

If you are still indoubt, see if 1229 and 1129 are both "Swansea" pages on GRO

Can I do that without chucking some money their way?

The reason I want to know is so that I can buy a certificate!  Looking at the ancestry scan, I'm pretty convinced it's 1229.

Just looked on Ancestry and its definitely 1129

if you look at the top of the second digit it goes straight whereas on  the 2 you can see the curve

according to FreeBMDs info, the page range for Swansea 1Q1926 went up to 1200, but as they are at pains to explain, that info is based on the data seen.

I think if you say you are unsure, the GRO will be helpful and manually search - I've squeezed in a short query in the relevant box twice now and they do react !

dont agree with you Parmesan - esp when comparing the first two digits, and also with the -1- in the Page -71- in the line above. Additionally the second digit has a defn 'slope' in the middle 'stroke' like a two - the -1- is vertical.

But then again, what I just posted about FreeBMDs page ranges would seem to agree with you  :)

sorry, havent cropped this extract from Ancestry ....
