Regiment identification
« on: Friday 25 September 09 15:05 BST (UK) »
Would anyone be able to identify this WWI regiment and where it was taken?
It is printed on a postcard and on reverse - Carte Postale: Guilleminot Boespflug et Cie, Paris.
My grandfather served in the Royal Fusiliers but the cap badges do not look like RF to me.  Does anyone know which regiment this is?
Many thanks

Any chance of a tight scan of the cap badge and the officer in centres collar badges we may be able to get it.

Have you looked for your g/fatjher's medal index card - available either for £2 download from National Archives or via Ancestry subscription.  I have a feeling that some wartime battalions of RF may have worn a different badge.

Thanks for replies.  Unfortunately my scanner is broken so  I cannot send scan of cap badges - I used scanner at local library for regiment photo!
I have a copy of granddad's medal card which states he served in 2/Royal Fusiliers and I have his cap badge!
The card states he first served in (2B) Balkans (which I understand was the Gallipoli campaign) and his date of entry was 15-12-1915.  He was also in the Battle of the Somme.  He was wounded four times, the first in Gallipoli and last in France and was sent to Tipperary for recovery before being sent back to the front.  I am hoping to try and locate his service records although I know not all survived.
Thanks for help

What struck me was that there was only 1 officer for 60 men, I would have expected there to have been more officers than that for the number of men.
Grant in Tipperary
Piper in Tipperary
Blong in Leix
Watson in Offaly
Pugh in North Wales
Evans in North Wales
