Thanks for that

It was a butchers joined onto the house - i think its a carcass of some animal  - in the window though there is an Ox tail hanging up.

It was taken in a small Welsh Village called Meifod - i think about 1910? The clothes that they are wearing are apparently all sorts of ages so its hard to pin point it  - we think that the gentleman stood in the door way is Walter Griffiths who trained as a tailor when he was younger which could explain to very fashionable boys?

glad you like it.

Lovely picture.
I see they still have the iron railings, so it's certainly before 1914
I think I remember that a lot of iron railings were donated to the 'war effort.'

Hi Katy,

What a lovely picture and what looks like a fatted calf/pig carcase ready for the table!

My guess it is a large pig ready to smoke for bacon.  Marvelous, far more common in a cottage garden, pigs were.

Brilliant colouring Paula and genechaser!  The iron railings went in WW2 Paula, you are right there!

I think that the thing on the wall is the pigs head, plus the tail and assorted bits.

Paula if you have enlarged this to colour it, could you see it any better? But the shape is right for a pig!

Looked more like a collection of plucked birdies to me, Rabbit, I thought I could make out the feet...

Oh well bad eyes I know Paula, but why would they have hens and a pig with no freezer?

The meat wouldn't keep unless they cured the pig for bacon!  I will have a look in daylight tomorrow.
