Stratton St Margaret Litten (Litton) family
« on: Sunday 06 March 05 11:12 GMT (UK) »
Am trying to trace any details on the Litten family c1800.  I currently have Robert Litten who married Betty Woolford by licence on 19th May 1785 in the parish of Stratton St Margaret.  Betty Woolford's parents were Ralph and Mary and I have a baptism date for her in the same area of 14th Sep 1758.  I have no baptism or birth information on her husband Robert.  Their son George was baptised on 1st March 1801 again in Stratton St Margaret.  Would like to know if there were any other children or who Robert's parents were.  Any help gratefully received - thanks for your time.  Ljay

Hi ljay,

I don't know if this inofrmation has already come to light, but Robert was a widower when he married Betty.  The Marriage Licence Bond gives his place of abode as Stratton St Margaret.  The bondsman was George Hunter.

There is another marriage licence bond dated 12 years before (21 Apr 1773) for Robert Litten of Stratton St Margaret and Mary Grey spinster.  Bondsman was Austin Thomas of Wroughton.

Good luck.

Nell
