The first marriage was to a Martha Graham on 4th June 1858 in Beith in Ayr...
she was the daughter of a Alexander Graham and Margaret nee Barbour

Robert Dempster was listed as living on Sorbie Farm in Beith... and his occupation at that time was listed as a ploughman...

neither could write as their signatures was an x witnessed by the Minister a James Mitchell...


a couple more bits of info...

Robert Dempster born 1862 to Robert Dempster and Martha Graham died in 1863 aged 9 months...

Robert Dempster senior born c 1837 died 1903 aged 70 on July 17th and this cert confirms the two wives... firstly Martha Graham and then Mary Gemmell he died at 2 Eglington Street Beith in Ayr.

Martha Dempster nee Graham died of Consumption aged 36 on May 14th 1870 in Patrick Row Dalry Ayr..

Jane Dempster born January 4 1860 to Robert Dempster and Martha Graham

Helen Dempster born December 11 1863 to Robert Dempster and Martha Graham

Alexander Dempster born September 12 1867 to Robert Dempster and Martha Graham
