I've done quite a lot of searching over the weekend - BMD, census, criminal records, military, overseas, etc. and have had no problems whatsoever.

Very odd.

what about standard searches on Ancestry, are you still getting the time out page?

I don't usually search via people in the Ancestry trees

Standard searches seem OK, and weirdly the searching via people bit works on Ancestry.com  :-\

I've had a go at doing that kind of search, Nick and I've not had a problem but I'm not sure if I've done it as you have  (like Jenny, I don't usually search on people in trees).

Can you tell us  the steps that you've taken and we could have a go at reproducing it.

I don't know if this is relevant, but.........

From the end of the school holidays I was getting "Page Not Found, Server Not Found, Connection Timed Out" type errors. I rang 3G, suspecting a bandwidth limitation issue.

While I was on the 'phone (about 20 minutes), their advisor asked me to try accessing various websites. Lo and behold, while we were talking, Online Armor firewall was showing me an increasing number of connections. Everything is now as it should be.

If I remember correctly, Nick, you use an Orange dongle modem (?)

It might be worth giving them a call.

'Hat.

Good memory !  However, the dongle is for mobile and emergency use only, and at home I'm on Sky Broadband (I've also tried it on my business BB ISP too, same effect).

Hi Gadget,

All I'm doing is selecting one of my ancestors, viewing the profile, then on the profile page I click on Search Historical Records

Then I wait, and wait, and eventually the page times out with an Error 400 error.  Occasionally, I get a blank page with "Bad Verb" at the top.

Now, although I've been tempted to utter some bad verbs,  I've resisted up until now  ;D
