help with thomas ford.

Hi all,

This has been posted on the armed services board for quite some time.

I am really stuck with a naval question.

I have a Thomas Ford born woodley (woodleigh) Kingsbridge Devon
who signed up for Continuous and General Service in the Navy 7 June 1854.
Ship he entered was the Calcutta
Ord 2nd class
volunteering for 10 years.

I have the paper from archives ADM/139/154
this is for when he signed up, from there it is a blank canvas.

I am sure he did not serve 10 years, I am trying to find out how he was discharged as I gather it was not easy to leave the services in those days.
And any other information on his service would be great.

Can any one point me in the right direction?
