Thomas Baillie /Glassford chelsea pensioner

hi all ,

Looking for any info on Thomas Baillie born 1807 in glassford lanarkshire
on 1851 census shows him in calstock cornwall with wife mary beer,he is listed as a chelsea pensioner,which war or regiment was he attached to .
1871 census shows him back living in glassford lanarkshire with his wife.
he also had brother james baillie also listed as chelsea pensioner.

please any info will help

thomas baillie is wifes 2nd great grand father

You can search for surviving records for men discharged before the end of 1854 on the NA Catalogue. There isn't a suitable Thomas. But there is a James born in Hamilton - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=-3932840&CATLN=7&Highlight=%2CJAMES%2CBAILLIE&accessmethod=0&Summary=True

The only other source are the muster books, and to research these you need to know the regiment. Do you know where Thomas' children where born - while he was serving?

thanks for reply ...i think that may well be his brother james as for thomas
i havent found actual children of his .
on 1851 census for calstock  his neice  mary baillie is with him aged 5 yrs born in glassford...some distance to take a niece at that time .
later on i found wifes great grand mother a marion baillie born abt 1847glassford on her death cert 1929 it has thomas and mary beer as parents ...but on the 1861 census i found marion living with thomas and mary but she is down as niece.so i dont think they had any children ...thomas may have had sister marion but been unable to find any thing so far
