Hi Wendy

John Cherry 1883
Samuel Cherry 1892
Joseph Cherry 1894

I found them on the 1901c with mother as a widow.

HI

Well there's a right mix of surname here isn't there?

You got Forster Crickett marrying a Mary Ann in 1871/2

Then in 1881 you got Ellen, Sarah and Robert Crickett showing up in the household do a Samuel and Ellen Wlkinson as Grandchildren.....

I cant readily see where Mary Ann Cherry/ Crickett is in that 1881 census nor can I see Ellen the eldest daughter.

Bit odd this lot....

I have to have another look at this one tomorrow.

HI

Change that I've now found a Mary Ann Crickett in Kirkleatham right age but showing as a Widow and shown as born in Wales which fits with info from the 1871 census where shes still a Wilkinson which ties with her kids being with Wilkinson in the 1881.

but his this could be where the Samuel Wilkinson Crickett name fits in

Still looking for Ellen the though,

I'm in a tis now

Hi Wendy

Thanks for sticking with it!!

I'm confused too, as the marriage I have for Foster Cricket is Dec quarter 1871 to Mary Ann Ingleby, so I don't quite understand the grandchildren being with the Wilkinson family.

The Wilkinson family fit better, some of the children even being named after the grandparents.

It's really got to my this one, I'm going to have to figure it out!  The person I'm trying to help had always been led to believe her grandfather was a CHERRY, although my husband is also related via Foster's sister Margaret.

I have a puzzle in my side too, I have posted in on this side before but don't know if you were visiting this site last year, I will post it later as a separate problem and try again!

Thanks so much for your help
Anita

Just a little addition i found to confuse things

Mary Ann Cricket (nee Ingleby) married James Henry Wilkinson Sept quarter 1891 in Sunderland.  So only have to figure out the surname Cherry now.

Mary Ann Ingleby - mother Ellen Thompson, father Joseph Ingleby.
Ellen then re-married Samuel Wilkinson.
So 1881c is Mary's mother and step-father.

Second marriage to James Henry Wilkinson is just a coincidence!
