Cambron thanks for the information, will check the years of birth of the children. I noticed John was a miller. Thanks, Will have to make a visit.

Gedget tried to attach extracts of 1841 census, and marriage of Angus jnr. I have also found an IGI Individual Record on the LDS site Angus McGregor born 12 Feb 1834, christening 20 Feb 1834, Place of Birth Kenmore parents John and Christian. This is giving me a headache... lol

Hi Lorica  :)

They all read Angus to me. i think the slightly open n might look like a u.

I'll start looking at your family in more detail over the next few days and see if I can find anything more that may help.

The 1841 entry has Angus's wife as Christian  and his occupation as miller. This doesn't tie in with the Janet m.s Stewart and occupation gamekeeper on the marriage cert.

I assume that the marriage entry is the correct Angus and you are trying to find the mother and father listed there on the censuses. Neither are noted as deceased on the marriage cert so I'd look for them on the closest census to that date.

I also note that this Angus is a carter which doesn't tie in with the University student that you mentioned earlier.

Regards

Hi Gadget

I have just up dated some information in an earlier post.

Angus Senior wasnt a Miller, the Millar was the person I think is his father John McGregor. Yer I agree on the way Angus is Written that it is Angus and nothing else, now it has been explained.. :)

Yer I did think the Uni References didnt seam to fit with his occupation according to Angus jnr wedding entry in the register.

The following extract is from the marriage registry entry for Isabella McGregor daughter of Angus McGregor Jnr
Garforth (Yorkshire), Day (Yorkshire), Tiplady (Lancashire & Yorkshire), Hall (Yorkshire), Parish (Yorkshire & Cambridgeshire), Clarke (Leicestershire & Yorkshire)
McGregor (Perthshire), Louden (Perthshire)

Sorry - got mixed up with all the Anguses!

Just trying to get this together from your DofBs and census/cert info

John (b. 1796) m Christian Occ - Miller
Angus (b. 1834) m Janet Stewart  Occ - Gamekeeper
Angus (b. 1867) m Mary Ann Occ - Carter/Contractor

Have you got the marriage cert of Angus and Janet Stewart?  This would link into John and Christian.

Lorica

There's something odd about the Angus b.circa 1867. His birth doesn't seem to appear around then. The nearest that I get are two births (on SP and IGI) :

2 May 1864 - Fowlis Wester  Parents - Alexander McGregor and Janet Stewart
18 Jun 1864  in Dunblane Parents - James McGregor and Sarah McLeod

The Fowlis Wester couple married 20 December 1861, Fowlis Wester

Can you check on the Angus (1867) on the 1871-1901 censuses for place and date of birth.

This family research is giving me a headache!

I dont have any marriage certificates for any of them. I have not even been able to find any register entries for Angus and Janet Stewarts wedding, just been on SP spent all my credits and got nothing of any value.....

Been trying to find Angus Jnr on 1881 census but nothing.......

Have you found a birth record for Isabella  - I've not found one with those parents so far and I don't want to exhaust my resources  :-\

I've been searching on M*gr*g*r  and just Is 1890-1995.

Nothing on the 1901 that looks promising for her either.

Something very strange.

I'll have to take a break from this - boring chores must be done.

Will investigate further.

It might be worth trying to find a death for Isabella and also follow up Janet McGregor (witness at her marriage).

I think we have to start from Isabella and get her placed and then work backwards from there.

There's an interesting family on the 1901:

139 High Streeet, Auchterarder  329 ED 7 page 2

David Clark, 64
Isabella, 53

(others)  and grandchildren:

McGregor
Alexander, 11, b. Grahamstown, Stirlingshire
Isabella, 7, b. Glasgow
Janet, 5, b. Glasgow
Anguss, 3, b. Glasgow

It's a large entry so worth you considering it.

I'll check up on these births and get back
