NOBLE family name

Is Noble a Channel Islands Name? I am looking for Francois Noble born about 1830 but ended up in Australia.

The Archive Centre has details on 39 Noble's. It is not a particularly common name but I wouldn't base my research on whether the name was common or not.

I do not have a lot. He died in 1899 in Goulburn Australia. I cannot find entry to Oz yet but he was in NSW in 1868 as he had a daughter born Frances Noble to mother Margaret Barry. A 2nd daughter Margaret in 1872. His age was given as 41 in 1870. Born FRANCE town not known parents not given.

Margaret was Irish. I am pursuing the NOBLE name as a lead. A possibility that FRANCE could be a generalisation. The NOBLE name appears in IRELAND and SCOTLAND but FRANCOIS or FRANCIS is not commonly seen. I noted NOBLES in Channel Islands and consider that this maybe a possibility as he may also have been a mariner. It is a slim lead. He referred to his daughter as FRANCOISE not Frances. There were not many French in the colonies at that time so I am being open minded about his origins. I cannot yet find a connecton to a french NOBLE family.
