Hi

Have you ordered the marriage cert for George to establish what his father's name was and occupation?

There is only one entry in the IGI for a George McGregor, christened 21 April 1830,St.Nicholas,Aberdeen.He is the son of George McGregor & Sarah Mcbride. They married (spelled mcGrigor) on 18 June 1827,in Old Church,St.Pancras,London. Could this be the one you're looking for?

Taking a pure guess here and assuming George followed Scottish naming pattern (www.halmyre.abel.co.uk/Family/naming.htm. This looks to be George in 1861 with family in Marylebone:

George McGregor 31
Emma J McGregor 25
Jane E McGregor 4
George McGregor 2
Sarah McGregor 16 Months

RG9; Piece: 80; Folio: 103; Page: 58

There is this possible birth entry on IGI at www.familysearch.org:

GEORGE MCGREGOR  Christening: 21 APR 1830 Saint Nicholas, Aberdeen
Parents:GEORGE MCGREGOR and SARAH MCBRIDE

Hopefully George's marriage cert will let you move back  :)

Sorry flst, missed your last post before I posted. I agree, looks like the most obvious entry at this stage.

That was a good find for the marriage flst  :)

This possible entry for parents at Cavendish Square, Marylebone for 1861:

George McGregor 62, shoemaker, b. London
Sarah McGregor 51, b. London
Edward McGregor 13, b. London

RG9; Piece: 71; Folio: 19; Page: 33

I'll have a look for the family in 1851 and hopefully find George son in the household...looking good though!

Hello Monica & flst
Thanks for all the above looking good to me. One more piece of info I have is that george & emma had two girls that died in infancy Jane b 1857 & Sarah b 1860 which fits in.
I need to look at this deeper.
Regards to each. (need to take the dogs out now)
