LAURENT - SA to Rhodesia and back

I am hoping to find the parents of Ernest Edward LAURENT. 

He was born in Fordsburg, Johannesburg in 1913, married in Johannesburg in 1941.  At some stage he moved to Rhodesia and got a prospecting licence in Gwanda in 1951.  He died in Jo'burg in 1981.  He was known as Jimmy.
I have not been able to find his birth record yet.
