Stone still standing but very worn – I will not try the inscription but have noted below words which were visible and hopefully they will mean something to some one.

THORNTON

Erected by James Thorton
To The Beloved Memory of his
Father Peter Thornton
Died 21st Nov 1848 aged [all worn away]
And
His Mother Bridget Connelly
Died 1st Feb 1838 [stone worn at last number could possibly be 1839] aged [all worn]
Their Daughter [all worn]

James Thornton mentioned.
Further down there is a mention of a daughter Helen Thonrton died July 1875 [?]
Her husband Peter Chisholm death also on stone.

Sorry it is so vague. Non compressed file available if anyone wishes it.

At the back, close to the Columba Club building itself a small stone which looks as though part of it is missing, so I don’t know if it was a family stone and only the last inscription is visible.

The Broken and Unreadable:-

Unfortunately there are many stones now totally unreadable and broken in the old churchyard: but here are bits of stones which may help some one if they know what it should say. Please amend if anyone sees what the inscription is!

Broken in Half lying against the wall at Troy Lane – Erect by Thomas Aiken (?) for his wife Elizabeth
_________________________________________________________________
GOODWIN/HARVEY

Stone still standing but virtually unreadable – some of the legible words are:-

Ellen Harvey
Wife of James Goodwin
Who died 4th June 1873
Aged 53 years
R.I.P

I think on the top part of the stone there must be a death of a child recorded as there is reference to something and nine months.

**Scotlands People has a Helen Harvey other name Goodwin death in 1873 aged 43 years**   It didn’t look like a 4 on the stone but it is in very poor condition.

Part of the unreadable but standing stones:-

HARVEY

On the back of the Harvey/Goodwin Stone there are three names, if anyone knows the daughter’s name, please update this! I could not see any dates.

John HARVEY and his Wife
MARY LOUCHRAN [?? Worn in parts] also their
Daughter [worn away – looks like something MYLOTTS?]
