DIXON, Elmer
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 22:39 BST (UK) »
I am hoping someone can help me with this one.

My grandfather, Elmer DIXON was from Stephens Minnesota, year unknown (would be approximately 1920 give or take 5 years). He married my grandmother, Veronica KING and they lived in Kimberley BC. (*)
I really don't know where to start, as this is the majority of the info I've got.

Thanks!

I see an Elmer Dixon death, age 61, 6 Aug, 1980 at Kimberly, B.C. on the B.C. Archives site http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-2AAED2/gbsearch#form

I can not find Veronica Dixon. Have a look at the site and see if you can match any of the children's names and post the ones you feel are possible. I will get a copy of any of the records you identify from the local library. The B.C. records show quite a bit of information depending on the knowledge of the informant.

There is a place called St. Stephens in Minnesota, but I don't know about "Stephens".

http://people.mnhs.org/bci/ shows a couple of possibilities b. 1918, but I would wait for the records from BC before attempting to jump back into US records.

it could possibly be Stevens County, Minnesota... And his death record I've found says he was 61 in 1980 when he passed away, so he'd have been born in 1919... This is a tough one!

I picked up a copy of Elmer Dixon's death record. The informant was his wife and his place of birth is given as Stephen, Minnesota. His parents (names given on the record) were also born in Minnesota. If you send me a PM with your email address, I will forward the record to you.

Border crossing at Metaline Falls, Washington for Elmer Dickson born 1908 Steven, Minn. and living Kimberley BC on September 2, 1939.  Age 21, and showed residency in US from birth to 1920.  The record is smudged and difficult to read.  Either travelling with Helen Newson and Josephine Irving or he was going to see them??
