Photos that make you laugh
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 18:21 BST (UK) »
I've just whiled away a few hours looking at PrueM's/Jakky's victorian photographs.

What a treat!

I thought I'd post a family photo that I'm very fond of, but also generates many questions.

My GG grandad, Edward Cooke, taken at Stoke Ferry, Norfolk 1880-90

Do you think the style of mutton-chops and beard without moustache will ever be in vogue again?
I suppose he spoke in a broad Norfolk brogue?
I wonder what the dog was called?
Was he a good dog?

Hello Molloyboy

Yes, what a delight those Victorian photos are - as is the one you have posted of your  GG Grandpa with his smock and his gaiters - not forgetting his dog.

Mutton-chops and beard - well anything is possible these days !

Was the photo handed down through the family ?

Enjoy Rootschat as much as I do.........

A fine set of whiskers, shame there's no tache though. That's a very skinny bit of string the dog's on :) Must've been a good dog, a shepherd wouldn't keep a bad one.
